Just My Memphis Magazine

I am called to practice in the oldest of new places. Egypt, Mesopotamia, Africa. I am going home.

Art Heals. When I could not speak, I could sing.
Art Heals. When I could not walk, I could paint.

"Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads."– Erica Jong

I ask you, family and friends, to know and understand I must follow this incredible gift wherever it leads me.

I’m asking you to now help me FLY in this new mission and journey home!
I am no longer disabled, brain damaged and dependent. Art Heals.

This is why I did not die on a West Virginia highway. This is why I did not succumb to cancer, wallow in depression, PTSD, anxiety or hoarding.

I am here because Art Heals.

“The greatest moment in our lives is when we allow US to teach EACH OTHER.”
As I continue my mission, please consider a blessing to assist me as I continue to embrace this passion to heal myself, and to heal others through vibrations I am consciously sending out into this world.

This world is crying out for healing. This world, which I passed from and was returned to.
We all hear it. That is my mission. Art Heals. This is why I was saved. Art Heals.

Art is like Love, and like Love, Art heals & renews.

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.– Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

I go forth into the world to heed my calling. I ask for your blessing, your Love, your Joy.
Please wish me “Bon Voyage” and look for my updates from these old but new places!

The Consortium MMT: Soul Stories

She gave the song the title, "Aviatrix," and in it Barbara Jenice Lester imagines "flying free" from what she calls a "matrix of insanity."

Her voice, think the folk singer Tracy Chapman, wraps evocative lyrics in a velvet sound, and for Lester, the message captured her own fragile predicament. Even as the Central High School graduate seeks escape from the traumatic night in college that so defines her life, Lester dreads the early-onset dementia doctors believe could soon take effect.

Of the 22 people who completed the inaugural session of Stax legend David Porter's new music venture, The Consortium: MMT, none brought a more compelling back story than Lester. She is one of five Consortium graduates featured in a multimedia presentation available to subscribers at commercialappeal. …
